Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are two very hot buzzwords that are being used in the field of Big Data, Analytics and the broader waves of revolutionary technologies. They are often erroneously used interchangeably. Let's see what they both mean.

AI - AI involves machines that can perform tasks that are characteristic of human intelligence like planning, understanding language, recognizing objects and sounds, learning, and problem-solving.
    Types of AI
        General AI - It would have all of the characteristics of human intelligence
        Narrow AI - Narrow AI exhibits only some facet(s) of human intelligence. Eg: A machine that’s great at recognizing images, but nothing else.

ML - It is the ability of any computer to learn without being explicitly programmed using Training. “Training” involves feeding huge amounts of data to the algorithm and allowing the algorithm to adjust itself and improve. 

In simpler terms, ML is simply a way of achieving AI.
