Auto Expo 2018: Hyundai to showcase 2 Electric Car

The Auto Expo 2018 is going to come soon and its going to be very exciting as the Hyundai is coming up with three exciting prospects. The excitement is due to two factors, the re-emergence of Santro into the small car space and the coming up of "Electric Cars". Rakesh Srivastava , Director Sales and Marketing, had said, " We will bring electric cars to India and will meet the timeline set by government. Hundayi has the technology and we will bring them in all the segments we are present in. Going by the current scenario, auto-component suppliers and electric component manufacturers in India do not have the volumes to locally invest in making components for a premium car like Ioniq. If Hyundai decides to import and sell the car then costs of the vehicle will at more than double thanks to import duty structure and at about Rs 45 lakh the car will hardly see any buyers. Earlier in an interview, Y K Koo, MD, Hyundai Motor India had mentioned that “Electric cars are a focus for us. We have to go by the government’s policy and norms, it’s better to implement electric cars on lower-segment products. The Grand i10 and i20 and small cars are more convenient, more easy, and more practical for electric than bigger-sized vehicles when it comes to the Indian market."   The Models : Hundayi's electric SUV, the Ioniq which has an EPA certified range of 200km and makes 118HP from its single electric motor, which is a lot less than the hybrid having 139HP. The Indian version will see the range being pushed to 300km and increase in horsepower as well. The second model we have is Kona SUV and has an exceptionally well designed interiors. It is going to have an 8inch infotainment system which uses Android Autoand Apple CarPlay. It will also have an optional wireless Smartphone charging pad, a heads up display system and an 8 speaker Krell surround sound system in place. The big heading is going to be the re-launch of Hundayi Santro. The small car space segment was left unfought since Hundayi retired EON and it was a fight between Tata Tiago and Maruti Suzuki WagonR and now Hundayi wants its share of the pie back for itself. There are lots of safety features and driver aids such as ABS and airbags.

McDOnalds

McDonald's Corporation is the world's leading company in the fast food industry. It has over 31,800 flagship restaurants serving nearly 50 million people each day in more than 119 countries worldwide. Recently in 2003, the corporation has dramatically altered the course of its business by refocusing on the disciplines of operations excellence and marketing leadership, which are said to be the characteristics of customer satisfaction. This shift in their business operations was the first step towards creating sustainable, profitable growth at McDonald's. McDonald's serves about 50 million people each day. It has been integrated in their management to prioritize customer satisfaction. They are intent in improving the experience of each and every one of these 50 million people that they serve everyday. It must be noted that customer satisfaction has always been the key in the success of any service-related industry such as fast food as exceptional service has the power to differentiate one corporation from another. One of the corporation's efforts in speeding up their service is through automated beverage dispensers which drop and fill the right-size drink cups as orders are keyed into the register. This innovation has simplified their operations, sped up their service, as well as satisfied their customers in the provision of quick service. Also, the corporation is aimed at pleasing their customers through treating them equally without regards to their status or anything else that discrimination can be based on. Aside from the corporation's quick service and its universal friendliness to the customers, the corporation has also approximately 2,800 employees who provide a wide variety of support functions to the thousands of McDonald's restaurants around the world through a network of divisional, regional and local-country offices.  In terms of their treatment towards their employees, the corporation also has this initiative of satisfying their employees through a benefits program that is designed to attract, energize, reward and retain talented and capable people who will be able to produce superior business results and enhance the corporation's leadership position in the fast food industry. McDonald's has realized that satisfied employees will become motivated in their work; hence, there will be maximization of productivity as their employees will be able to satisfy their customers in giving them exceptional service.

2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class revealed

Mercedes-Benz has always been the pioneer when it comes to path breaking technologies and the recent launch promises class-leading levels of connectivity from its new A-Class, which receives a new interior with the most advanced version yet of the German car maker’s Comand Infotainment System. The sixth-generation set-up features a newly developed MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) function that brings touch screen control, an innovative voice control system and augmented reality navigation not even offered on Mercedes’ range-topping S-Class History : The A-Class started as the Vision A 93 study, revealed at the Frankfurt motor show in 1993. The front-wheel-drive concept became the precursor to Mercedes’ entry into the compact model segment four years later. The arrival of the A-Class brought criticism: a journalist’s manoeuvring test of the car found safety issues. Mercedes responded by giving the car a revised suspension system and electronic stability control as standard. Present : The A-Class will once again be offered exclusively in five-door form when UK sales of the new, fourth-generation version start in June after a public debut at the Geneva motor show in March. It will be the first of up to eight new compact models that are under development and due for launch by the end of 2020. These include successor models to the existing B-Class, CLA, CLA Shooting Brake and GLA as well as a trio of new models: an A-Class saloon, an SUV model set to be called the GLB and the all-electric EQ A previewed at the Frankfurt motor show last September. In a further departure from its predecessor, the new A-Class will also be sold with the choice of two suspension systems, depending on the model. Mercedes boss Dieter Zetsche said at the car's reveal: "The A-Class has been a big driver of change at Mercedes. This last version is not a car that gives much of an impression of entry-level. It's a grown-up A-Class that fully embraces our vision of luxury." The car is is based on a modified version of the outgoing model’s MFA platform and features a 30mm longer wheelbase and 14mm wider front track. The new Mercedes hatch, which has the internal codename W177, is also claimed to offer vastly improved levels of refinement. This is thanks to improvements in the rigidity of its body structure, altered axle mountings and more comprehensive sound-deadening measures. There are also enhanced aerodynamics: Mercedes-Benz claims a class- leading drag coefficient of 0.25 for the new A-Class. Modifications : The newly designed headlights can be specified with optional Multibeam LED technology with adaptive high-beam assist plus, as well as individual city and motorway lighting functions and cornering lights. New LED rear lights help to make the tailgate aperture of the A-Class 20mm wider than that of the outgoing model. Larger wheelhouses also allow Mercedes to offer 19in wheels as an option on non-AMG models for the first time. The adoption of the larger platform has led to an increase in the car’s external dimensions. Length is up by 120mm at 4419mm, width increases by 16mm to 1796mm and height extends by 2mm to 1440mm. The increases have enabled Mercedes to improve the overall practicality of the A-Class. The rear door apertures are larger to ease entry to the back seats, and the boot’s capacity is 29 litres bigger than the old model’s at a nominal 370 litres. It’s inside where Mercedes has concentrated much of its efforts on the new A-Class. The cabin receives a distinctive dashboard-mounted black panel display and switchgear similar to that first introduced on the S-class. The so-called widescreen cockpit comes in three themes: Classic, Sport and Discreet. The highlight of the MBUX connectivity system is an advanced optional speech recognition system designed to work along similar lines to Amazon’s Alexa voice service. It permits users to provide spoken commands through a “Hey, Mercedes” function that has been developed to recognise conversational language rather than specifically worded commands.   Specifications : The new A-Class will be available with the choice of three four-cylinder engines from the start of sales. Two more petrol models are expected later: an entry-level unit sitting below the A200 and a mid-range A-Class falling between the A200 and A250. It comes as standard with a particulate filter that uses a urea solution to reduce emissions. A more powerful diesel will also arrive later. The A200 is equipped as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox. The A250 and 180d both receive a standard-fit seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. A newly developed 4Matic four-wheel drive system will also be offered. Now featuring electro-mechanical operation instead of the electro-hydraulic set-up used on the outgoing version of the A-Class, it provides a fully variable apportioning of drive between the front and rear axles for improved traction. The standard suspension on all models is tuned for a so-called comfort set-up. It is mounted 15mm lower than before and comes with Mercedes’ Dynamic Select system, which allows the driver to alter the characteristics of the throttle, gearbox and steering. Buyers can also opt for active damping control. This offers the choice of both comfort and sport settings via the Dynamic Select system.

Cars launched at the 2018 Auto Expo

The highly anticipated line of electric vehicles were put on show at Auto Expo 2018 along with many other models that caught the imagination of the viewer. On display are mad concepts, new models that you would be able to buy soon, as well as the odd racing machine. Comparison to Last Year : Owing to reduced manufacturer participation this time around, the action has been a little subdued. While there has been a healthy dose of new model showcases and concepts from both two and four-wheeler manufacturers, the actual launches aren’t quite the same as we have seen earlier. As a result, there have been a total of just seven new car launches so far at the expo. Models Launched : Tata H5X concept : The radically styled H5X concept is easily one of the stars of the show. It’s big, bold and unlike any other Tata SUV you’ve seen before. The SUV carries Tata’s latest Impact Design 2.0 design language and is an attention-grabber. The good news? The concept previews a production SUV that Tata Motors is working on.   Tata Racemo EV : The unique Racemo wowed at the 2017 Geneva motor show, and it’s on display at the Auto Expo 2018 too. It’s small, tight and just right. And it’s got butterfly doors too! Tata designers really went to town with the looks of this one. Interestingly, the Racemo has made its India debut in EV guise.    Maruti Concept Future S : Maruti knows a thing or two about small cars. And it’s also seen big success with the Vitara Brezza compact SUV. So why not offer more on the winning formula? The Concept Future S points to a tall, SUV-inspired hatchback that will be big on space. Word is, the production model will be out within this year.   Kia SP Concept : Take a close look at the SP Concept because this is the best pointer yet of the Korean carmaker’s first model for India that will go on sale in 2019. The SP Concept is a smartly turned-out SUV with the right proportions. The final product will be a rival to Kia’s parent company, Hyundai’s Creta. We can’t wait for this one. Maruti Suzuki Swift : This was, no doubt, the biggest launch at the 2018 Auto Expo in Greater Noida, as it was the most anticipated hatchback of 2018. Prior to its launch, Maruti Suzuki revealed all details about the new Swift. So, the price reveal of the model was what everyone was waiting for. And it has to be said that it wasn’t all that disappointing. Prices for the new car start at Rs. 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the most affordable LXi variant. And at Rs. 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the ZDi variant costs just Rs. 2,000 more than the outgoing model. Hyundai Elite i20 face-lift : Hot on the heels of the launch of India’s most popular hatchback comes the launch of Hyundai’s face-lifted Elite i20. The updated i20 gets new headlamps with LED DRLs in top-end variants, a new front grille, new tail lamps at the back, a dual tone rear bumper and new 16-inch alloy wheels. The car remains mechanically identical to the model it replaces. Prices range between Rs. 5.34 lakh and Rs. 9.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). BMW M5: Possibly the most exciting launch at the 2018 Auto Expo so far is that of the new BMW M5 at Rs. 1.43 crore, ex-showroom. Firepower comes from a 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 developing 592 horses and 750Nm of torque. An eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox is capable of sending power to all four corners via a 4WD system. BMW 6 Series: The second BMW launch on the 7th of February was that of the 6 Series GT at Rs. 58.90 lakh (ex-showroom), which has made it quite an attractive proposition for luxury car buyers. The new 6 Series GT is basically the 5 Series saloon with a fastback styled lift gate. The BMW 6 GT, for now, will only be available in India with a 2.0 litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine in the 630i. BMW X6: On the 8th of February, BMW launched the new X6 range in India with prices starting at Rs. 94.15 lakh (ex-showroom). There are a total of three models in India as of now for the X6, which includes the X6 xDrive35i, X6 xDrive40d M Sport (diesel) and the X6 M. BMW M3 & M4 Competition Package : The high performance BMW M3 and M4 now get the competition pack in India, which sends their prices north of Rs. 1.3 crore and Rs. 1.33 crore (ex-showroom), respectively. Both cars are powered by a 444bhp 3.0 litre, twin turbo V6 that is capable of hurtling them to 100km/h from standstill in 4 seconds and to a top speed of 280 km/h with the optional M Driver’s Package. Honda Amaze : The second-generation Amaze has made its debut at the Auto Expo 2018 and you’ll probably agree that this one is more visually pleasing than the model it replaces. The cabin also takes a big step up in quality, while retaining the same level of roominess. The power-train will be carried over but the news is the unique option of a CVT for the diesel engine version.
