National green corps

Environmental communication and public awareness: case studies

The present study discusses the ambient air quality of Delhi from the point of view of change of diesel by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in transportation in Delhi. Several initiatives were taken to reduce extremely high levels of pollutants present in the ambient air of urban city. One of the initiatives was to move public transport to CNG, which has been implemented in Delhi since April 2001. Delhi boasted CNG in nearly 2200 buses, 25,000 three wheelers, 6000 taxis and 10,000 cars. However, more than half of the vehicles are yet to be changed to CNG.

National Green Tribunal

National Green Tribunal (NGT) was established on 18th October 2010 under the NGT Act of 2010 as a specialized body for handling any environmental disputes that involve multi-disciplinary issues. It was formed by replacing the National Environment Appellate Authority. It also draws an inspiration from Article 21 of the India Constitution which assures to provide a healthy environment to the citizens of India.

Human population and environment

In 2015 the world population is more than 7.3 billion people. That’s more than seven billion three hundred million bodies that need to be fed, clothed, kept warm and ideally, nurtured and educated. More than 7.3 billion individuals who, while busy consuming resources, are also producing vast quantities of waste, and our numbers continue to grow. The United Nations estimates that the world population will reach 9.2 billion by 2050.

The Forest Conservation Act, 1980 is a Central Act of Parliament with a view to provide for the conservation of forest and for matters connected therewith or ancillary or incidental thereto.

Swach bharat abhiyan

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is one of the most popular and significant missions in the History of India. This campaign was introduced by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and was launched on 2nd October 2014 to honor Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a Clean country. Initially, this Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign was run on a national level in all the towns, rural and urban areas.
